Ep. 07: A Mother's Reckoning
In episode 7, I discuss A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold, mother of Dylan Klebold.
I would imagine that by now, just about everyone is familiar with the names Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. And if you are not, a quick search online of Columbine will bring you up to speed. While the family of Eric Harris has avoided speaking to the public through any channels, I was surprised to learn that in 2016, Sue Klebold, mother of Dylan Klebold wrote a book.
A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy is described by some as a tribute to her son without it being an excuse. It is also labeled as a moving call to action for mental health advocacy. Still, some have said it’s an entire book about denial and a way for the mother of a monster to try to clear her conscience. If you skim the reviews on any website that sells this book, you’re gonna come across just about every feeling and emotion.
