Ep. 22: The Groomer
Is this book as difficult to read as most people claim it to be? My curiosity got the best of me, which means you have to listen to me ramble about it.
Go straight to the rambling:
What are you grumbling about?
The Groomer is a controversial book. And that is being conservative. The first few times I had ever seen this book mentioned, it was in a Facebook group, posted with disgust and outrage.
“I couldn’t even finish the first chapter of this garbage. DNF!”
“The person that wrote this should be in jail. Or shot.”
“This one was way too much for me. I don’t see how anyone could ever read this!!!”
How extreme is the book and more importantly, is it worth reading? Can we separate the monsters in our art from those that create it? Can you make it through this episode without pounding energy drinks and Ibuprofen? Why has nobody taken my microphone away yet?
Obviously I read The Groomer by Jon Athan. Obviously I felt the need to spew my thoughts and ramblings into another episode. After you listen, I would love to hear what you think about works like this.
